Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Update: We have our winner! Unfortunately no one guessed "free sample sale," so the closest was commenter Fashionmin, for guessing "secret sample sale." We'll be emailing you shortly with instructions on how to pick up your prize.
As you've probably heard by now, Alexander Wang is hosting a mystery event this Saturday at the High Line Stages, and the brand is keeping extremely tight-lipped on what it will entail (so much so that they even denied WWD early press access).
Whatever it is starts at 2pm, entry is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and all details will be revealed once you're in—meaning you have to go there to find out if it's worth it or not. For the time being, we're opening it up to a reader contest—if you can guess correctly, you'll win the above Alexander Wang-designed shark pool toy.
To participate, leave your best guess in the comments below. Note that you must register as a commenter with either your email adress or Facebook account, so that we have a way to contact you. Those who comment anonymously will be disqualified.
In the event that two or more commenters guess correctly, the prize goes to whomever wrote it first (all comments are time stamped). If no one guesses correctly, it goes to whichever response was the closest. And in the event that Alexander Wang's team reveals the full details prior to the event—which sounds highly unlikely—the prize will go to the commenter who guessed correctly, or the closest to it, before all was unveiled.
One thing we'd like to add is that the PR team did mention emailing july13@alexanderwang.com and following the brand on Twitter for updates, so there might be some hints there.
Finally: you have to be willing to come to our offices in Manhattan to pick up the pool toy yourself. What you do with it afterward is up to you.
