Earlier this week we heard rumblings of a Cobble Hill location for J. Crew. Now WWD has confirmed that the retailer will open a two-level space at 151 Court Street. The store is expected to open early 2014.
WWD further picked Mickey Drexer's brain on Brooklyn. Here's what the J. Crew chairman and CEO said:
What took us so long in Brooklyn? Actually we've been looking for a while, but we wouldn't compromise the location... We'd rather take the time with the location instead of just finding any location...It's been quite clear over last few years that a lot of our customers live there. In fact, a fair amount of our headquarters team members live there, and we knew it pretty well. And as far as the possibility of a Williamsburg location? Sounds like it's not on their radar. While Drexler says that J. Crew may open more stores in Brooklyn, they "don't have anything in mind in particular."
