The $50 Samples Can't Be Beat at the DVF Sale

The DVF sample sale's worst kept secret is that the 'private' preview day is not so private after noon. This season, even with the shortened preview, sale employees continued the tradition and awarded Diane's most devoted fans (the first person got in line at 6:30am!) by letting everyone in at around 8:30.

Once you get in, do yourself a favor and grab a black tote bag from coat check. It will free your hands once you start rummaging through the racks, and boy is there a lot of merchandise. From body-hugging dresses to winter-friendly coats, this sale has them all.

Price-wise, RTW remained the same as the last sale in December, and ranges from $80 for skirts and tops to $350 for coats. Prices did fluctuate a bit in accessories. iPad clutches are $70 and all SLGs are $50, including wallets and coin purses. For those of you who argue that these prices are still too high, look out for further markdowns later on in the week, and especially on the last day.

When you have your tote in hand we recommend making a beeline for the sample racks in the back left. Here we found the label's signature wrap dresses, the popular 'Cindy' Acorn Lace Dress, and even some leather jackets! At $50, they are by far the best deal at the sale.

One employee revealed that they received a shipment of 10,000 samples for the sale. Since there are only six racks allocated for samples, this means they will be restocking throughout the week. We definitely recommend making an additional trip or two just for the samples. The merchandise is beautiful and the prices can't be beat.

As for the overstock, she told us that all of the styles are already out on the floor, and they will keep replenishing those too. There is also a small bin of size 9 sample shoes and sunglasses in the back right for $50. You can even get yourself a DVF-branded cooler.

Ladies, rejoice! Unlike J. Crew last week, there are actual fitting rooms at this sale. However, shoppers are limited to 10 items at a time and 20 minutes to try on. Even with these policies, the line to try on snaked all the way to the register.
