Deeply discounted denim and leather at the R13 sample sale drew a very small but determined crowd this morning. While waiting for the doors to open, we overheard shoppers who listed moto jeans and skinny chaps as their reason for attending the sale. With the R13 merchandise only taking up a small portion of the giant Clothingline space, it made the sale feel more intimate and less overwhelming. (Cynthia Rowley and Showroom Seven make up the rest.)

An entire table of skinny jeans sized 24-30, ranging from white denim to black distressed to moto jeans, are priced at $60. Surprisingly, most of the jeans remained folded and in their respective sections, organized by size and style. Slouchy boyfriend jeans and harem inspired styles hang on racks labeled price as marked, and among them are denim cut-off shorts for $20.

It might be hard to think about trying on leather pieces on this 93 degree day, but if you're willing to look toward cooler weather, you can pick up a pair of leather pants or shorts for $150, a leather tuxedo jacket for $250, and leather coats with fur for $500.

For clothes more suited for summer (and a thrifty budget), there are lightweight knit tanks, tees and tunics for $15-$30. Classic denim jackets in indigo and bleached denim are $60. Leaving the sale at noon, there was no line and only about 25 people inside.—Christina DeSmet
