The hotly anticipated Jimmy Choo sample sale kicked off at the Metropolitan Pavilion this morning afternoon. The persistant line for public entrance stretched down 18th Street, but upon entering—fifteen at a time—the wait was well worth it. Obviously shoes are the main attraction here, and there are plenty for each size, but a great selection of bags—from little wallets up to full-blown luggage—was an unexpected highlight.
Pricing is very straightforward. New and "gently used" women's shoes are $250 or $375. Damaged shoes are $90—denoted by two red circles—and damaged boots are $275. There are two tables per size and as you would expect, sizes 37 through 40 are a madhouse. Super helpful staff—one stationed at each table—can help you locate a style in your size. In our gallery, take a look at pictures from each size section for a look at what's available. After the jump, more info on accessories, handbags, and men's.
Sorry, guys, but you've only got one table to pick from. Everything for dudes costs $250 and styles are, uhh, standouts. Think camo ponyhair boat shoes. Yeah.
Tables of wallets of all sizes are $75 and there are a lot to choose from. iPad cases, makeup bags, pouches of various sizes, and other small leather goods will also cost you $75, as will the large selection of scarves. Belts, from skinny to super wide, go for $50.
The sale is brimming with handbags, and they start at $250 for small sizes. Gorgeous evening styles, go for $350, the same cost as medium bags. Large bags are $450, and anything made from exotic skins will tack on $200 to the size-determined price. However, we didn't see much in terms of exotics while we were there earlier today.
If you're a die-hard Choo fan who loves the bags and wants some statement shoes, this sale is for you. If you didn't make it today, don't worry: there seems to be enough inventory to last through tomorrow.
