Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The annual Costume Institute Gala will be streamed live tonight on the Met Museum, Vogue, Moda Operandi, and Samsung's websites, and we're getting in on the fun by posting a gallery of all the red carpet looks as soon as they hit the web. Since these things are always better with reader participation, we're inviting you to leave your wittiest take on the looks in the comments section. The author of the best one gets a free year-long membership to the Met.
We know, the Met is basically free—but the perks of being a member include invitations to exhibit previews, a 10% discount at The Met Store (gift shop!), and access to special members-only events.
The livestreams begin at 7pm tonight, and we'll begin posting the red carpet photos shortly after that. The comments section of that post will stay open until noon tomorrow. The winner will receive an email confirmation from us, as well as a follow-up email from the Met when your membership has been processed. (Note that the level that will be purchased is the $100 Individual Membership.)
To qualify, you must live within 200 miles of New York City. Warning to aspiring Perez Hiltons: Anything too nasty will be disqualified.
