Earlier this month, a Ralph Lauren store was confirmed for Fifth Avenue. Now, thanks to a transcript of a recent management call, we know that the store will be a Polo flagship—a first for the company's NYC store portfolio. As expected, the Fifth Avenue address will be full-on tourist friendly with nothing short of an in-store restaurant to satiate what an embroidered pony can not. Straight from the horse's mouth:
We've... committed to open a 35,000-square foot flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City that will be a major brand statement, featuring a full assortment of Polo men's, women's and children's merchandise, as well as a restaurant. Scheduled to open in the fall of next year, we believe the flagship store will really set the stage for the broader global strategy, especially since it is located in one of the world's most popular tourist destinations.This won't be the first foray into restaurants for RL: the brand's Polo flagship in Chicago has a restaurant across the street, and the company's Paris flagship houses a restaurant within the townhouse's courtyard. As far as New York City presence, the new store will mark number ten in Manhattan, not counting all those department store shop-in-shops.
