Be prepared to wait in line to get into the Elizabeth & James sample sale. We arrived a little before the 11am start time this morning, only to wait in line outside for 35 minutes while the first group of people went up the elevator to shop the sale. After that, they were only letting one person in for every one person out, making for a nice uncrowded atmosphere once we got upstairs.
The best deals are on sunglasses ($35 to $45) and eyeglasses ($65). And bonus!—all glasses come with a soft leather case. There's a great selection of jewelry, which includes rings, earrings, necklaces and cuffs all up to 80% off. We spotted a double cross brass ring for only $5. (With a price like that, you could afford to buy one for every finger.) All jewelry is priced as marked, and we didn't see anything over $150. Other great deals included earrings for $40 and necklaces and simple cuffs for $60 to $80.
Onto the shoe section, where minimal-style sandals in nude, black, silver, and red are $119 and booties are $150. Both came in a range of sizes. There's one rack of shoes filled with singular styles, but they're mostly in smaller sizes (5s through 7s). There won't be any restocking, so you should get there today if you want the best picks.
There are six racks of Elizabeth & James clothing, and the best rack was filled with striped jersey long-sleeve tees and tanks for $45. There's almost an entire rack of menswear-inspired navy pinstripe pants with suspenders that looked untouched
by shoppers. The embellished pieces appeared to be going the fastest, with short dresses priced at $100 and maxi dresses for $120. There's also a great selection of woven button-down shirts for $60. Every hanging item is priced as marked, and the price list pertained only to the items in the bins.
With no fitting rooms, the two full length corner mirrors were getting crowded when we were leaving the sale at around 12:15. If you're in the mood to dig and looking for casual pieces, head to the four bins full of Elizabeth & James Textile clothing, where you'll find woven shorts for $60 and jeans for $50.
One final note: each section has its own designated register, which cut the line down when it came time to pay. For additional info and hours, see the dealfeed below.—Christina DeSmet
