There isn't really any other word for the massive 2011 Comme des Garçons archival sale than epic: it was literally a fashion temple set inside a church, with merchandise present from each of the brand's collections and collabs over the past ten years. Also, there was food from the TriBeCa Tacos truck, Roberta's and Nola.
Despite pleas for this to become a regular event, 2012 saw no such sale. However, the brand sent out an email last night letting everyone know that the sale is coming back.
Mark your calendars, because the Epic Shopping Event begins on May 10th and runs through May 13th. All of design houses' brands will be there, including selections that have never been seen in New York. The flyer reads that it's "Pure Comme des Garçons from the last seven to eight years," and stock will be constantly replenished everyday, throughout the day. Overall, the discount is up to 70% off.
Our advice: If you're planning to go, go early. Last year, the first person in line—who didn't even know the brand but "just likes to camp out"—arrived at 3am. The second person in line paid somebody else $100 to save his spot at 6am.
