Last month, Century 21 announced that it was "joining forces" with M.A.C. Cosmetics on a new store at 22 Cortlandt Street location. If you thought that meant cheaper lipsticks, think again. Raymond Gindi, Century 21's CEO, clarified to WWD, "It's the first off-price location for MAC, but MAC won't be sold at discount. We've had a good partnership with Estée Lauder, the parent. We don't discount their brand."
In addition to partnering with the beauty company, Century 21's downtown expansion plans—which wil be revealed today—include adding three floors, widening the aisles, adding more fitting rooms, and making those cash registers operate a little faster. There will also be a new Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Café, a revamped shoe salon, and plans are in the works for rooftop area to "further spotlight luxury labels."
