Retail Stores Above 86th Street Now Considered Super Cool

Today's Commercial Observer notes that retail leases are booming above 72nd Street, and one street that's doing particularly well is East 86th Street between Third and Lexington Avenues. Faith Hope Consolo explains: "Eighty-Sixth Street has matured into a sophisticated retail destination. It went from no-name to big-name."

The article adds that national retails like Williams-Sonoma, Brooks Brothers, and J.Crew (all nearby on Madison Avenue) played a role in that. But what about that other huge national retail chain: Apple? According to an executive managing director at real estate firm Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, "It's only a matter of time before Apple makes a move up there."
