Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
We stopped by 260 Fifth Avenue this afternoon for day three of theRent the Runway sample sale, and found it to be significantly less crowded than earlier this week—there was no line around the corner of 28th Street, and the wait for the dressing room was also nonexistent.
The racks are stilly fairly well organized by size, and there are still a lot of dresses in sizes 0 through 16. As we mentioned on Monday, dresses with damages are tagged with yellow tape, but be sure to inspect them thoroughly yourself, as tape has a tendency to fall off. However, we still found some dresses in multiple sizes, so if the first one you see is damaged, there's a chance you might still find one that made it unscathed.
Despite the lack of a line, fitting room staffers are insistent in only allowing five items at a time and not saving any outside the room. (They did help us with a few tricky zippers, which we were very thankful for. If your shy, bring a friend to zip you up and they can hold extra dresses for you.)
Handbags and jewelry are a lot more scarce, and now all fit on one table, but it's worth a quick looks since the markdowns are good. We spotted a cute, gold Diane Von Furstenberg bag for just $40.—Kelly Marshall
