Spotted: A $99 Zac Posen Dress at the Scoop Closet Clean-Up

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Scoop Spring Closet Clean-Up Sale began at 9am this morning at the store's Meatpacking "Street" Boutique, and boy—is there enough stock to go 'round. This sale has everything from $19 undies to $129 jackets and everything in between. If you had lunch plans, break them: the sale is well-worth checking out, especially if you're in the market for basics.

Scoop made it super easy to shop this season, because everything is grouped by category with prices posted above each rack. Mostly everything has a set price, except for the accessories, which are all 50% off the redline price. On the first floor, you'll find tanks for $19, tees for $29, and denim for $59.

Tanks are mostly by Scoop, but we did see a few from T by Alexander Wang. Denim brands include Rag & Bone, AG, Citizens of Humanity, Mother, Current/Elliott and Habitual. There were some really cute, bright Rag & Bones as well as a ton of white jeans to sift through. On this floor, you'll also find tons and tons of sweaters, many organized in piles on the wall and others on the racks. Cost? 69 bucks. Take your time here, because we found brands like Marc Jacobs, Theory, Gryphon and Helmut Lang in the mix.

Before you head downstairs, be sure to check out the jewelry and the bags. We spotted a really sweet DVF clutch for $180, and some awesome collars by Sarah Cooper for only $55.

The bottom floor contains all of the menswear, as well as dresses for $99, some lingerie for $19, blouses for $59 (there are also two racks of these upstairs), shorts for $49, skirts for $79, ladies casual pants for $49, a single rack of outerwear for $129. Also included are some more sweaters and shoes for 50% off the redline prices.

We found a ton of dresses and tops that are perfect for the beach by Poupette, and some amazing red leather pants by Aiko for only $49. (These are a size 29 and there's only one pair, so if they're calling your name, hurry over for a chance to snag them.) Some other major steals: a Cavalli dress and a Zac Posen dress, each only 99 bucks.

As for the shoe department, everything is out, so don't bother asking for your size if you don't see it. Here you'll see brands like B Brian Atwood, Kors by Michael Kors, and Ash. Prices vary on designer and style, but everything is marked down half-off of price on the box. So for a pair of Chloé flats, figure you will be paying about $120. Not too bad, huh?

And now, onto the men's department, for $59 denim, $19 T-shirts, and a nice amount of outerwear for $129 (we saw a few pieces by Richard Chai). Swimwear is going for $49, shorts are $29, knit tops are $29, button-downs are $59,, and belts are $49. The shoe section had brands like Hadleigh's and Del Toro.

Other things to note: There are fitting rooms on the bottom floor, cash and credit cards are accepted, and absolutely no returns. The stock is pretty much all out, so restocking seems unlikely. And as of now, the sale is set to end on May 5th, but it may be extended if there's still merchandise to move.
