When we strolled into the MiH Jeans sample sale around 6:15 last night, we were greeted with a well-organized space managed by helpful staff and patronized by only a handful of happy shoppers. After the madness of many of this week's sales, it was a pleasant change to calmly browse through this hidden gem.
The buttery soft jeans that normally run up to $230 were a mere $40 each. Shorts will set you back $25, and for those willing to scavenge, there's a box full of $15 "damages." As far as we could see though, the damage, if any, was hardly discernible. For example, although one pair showed a little fraying on a back belt loop, for $15 we were totally ready to forgive that.
The only drawback is that selection is relatively slim and seems to be dwindling fast. The majority of the denim left was size 26, and staff informed us that this is the only size that will see a limited amount of restocking.
On the other hand, there are definitely treasures to be found. We coveted a few pairs of red jeans as well as some pale pink cutoff shorts. Some summery white pants and army green crops also caught our eye. If you're looking for a specific style, there was at least one Oslo, Paris, Marrakesh, and London cut in each size. Most jeans were either a variation of blue or gray.
It was a fun surprise to discover some additional offerings other than denim. A table of cords and velvet were marked at $20. Silk shorts with white polka dot stars had already been reduced from $45 to $40. There were a variety of button down cotton and jersey shirts, with prices ranging from $15 to $20.
Also, while sample sale veterans have no qualms about stripping down to try on clothes, the MiH Jeans sale allows for a modicum of modesty and provides a changing room of sorts: a folding barrier in the corner that forms a makeshift room for use by one person at a time.
The bottom line: get there soon to grab great jeans at great prices before stock runs out. For additional info and hours, see the dealfeed below.—Jessica Wisniewski
