It's been taking Balenciaga a long time to open its upcoming store headed for 148 Mercer Street. The brand first announced its impending Soho arrival in June of 2011, and not too much has happened to the storefront since then, save a lot of construction and a humungous facade. When the Chelsea location was badly flooded after Hurricane Sandy, a seasonal store opened on Wooster Street.
Now, Crain's reports that the Mercer Street location will be opening "in the coming weeks." According to WWD, the Wooster Street store was only initially intended to showcase the pre-spring and SS capsule lines. That being said, the Greene Street store should hopefully arrive with enough time to display the summer collections.
