Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Though digital photography and Instagram are revolutions in their own right, there's just something about manually adjusting an aperture—without an app. To remind people just how awesome that can be, Lomography has declared that this Friday, April 12th, is Film Photography Day.
The store on 41 West 8th Street will be hosting a party that evening, complete with cocktails from Svedka and temporary tattoos from Tattly. The store is also encouraging film enthusiasts to set up their own Meetup groups, with some great incentives to do so. And to make sure you're properly equipped, we're giving away a free camera: the Lomography La Sardina Camera and Flash Cubic.
Here's how to win it: Today's newsletter will include a secret phrase, which will arrive in your inbox sometime after 3pm. Be the twelfth person to email the phrase to tips@racked.com, and it's yours. Not a newsletter subscriber? You can sign up in the box below.
