New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Dangerous Muse is an electronic rock project led by vocalist/songwriter Mike Furey. Besides having a unique sound, the band has collaborated with H&M on their D.A.A Campaign (Furey designed an exclusive tee for the retailer), has been featured inside the pages of Oyster Magazine, and has performed at Bloomingdale's for Fashions Night Out.
The band also recently performed for Patricia Field's collaboration with the Keith Haring Foundation, and was featured in the campaign for this collection along with Mark Ronson. Here, Furey shows us his favorite shop in the East Village for those healing gems, handmade jewelry, and more.
I love Unique Collection on St. Marks. I recently got a few big crystals from them for my apartment for good vibes—for instance, a huge piece of black tourmaline that absorbs radiation emissions from computers and other electronics. They also have beautiful handmade jewelry, like precious stones set in sterling and an extensive selection of essential oils, incense, etc. The staff is wise and happy to explain the different uses of each unique crystal. Because style isn't just the clothes you wear or where you get them; it's informed by the attitude and energy you exude. Unique Collection is a great place for people looking to hone and heal.
