Club Monaco's semi-annual sample sale is back at Clothingline for another season. Since it's always long-anticipated for its steep bargains and an array of unexpected true samples, we scoped out the friends and family preview on Friday and were hit with a few surprises.

Sadly, prices are a bit higher—the merchandise tops out at $200 for coats from Club Monaco's "Made in America" line for the guys, and $109 for fur, leather and suede items, as well as all boots and booties. Luckily there's good reason for the price increase. Usually this sale is limited to sample size shoppers. This time, in addition to the sample pieces, the sale is chock full of overstock in a ton of sizes. If you're looking to refresh your drab winter wardrobe, or even get a head start on your spring collection, this is the place to do it.

For the ladies: The front of the sales floor is overstock items, while the back has racks of true samples. Everything is on the same pricing scheme, so you'll want to scope out the overstock first as it's less likely those pieces will be damaged.

Among the overstock, we found floaty patterned chiffon miniskirts for $25 and embellished tweed jackets for $60. A short sleeved jersey maxi dress is $40, and business-casual friendly cropped pants are $30. Our favorite piece was a colorblocked khaki pencil skirt for $25. Generally, the overstock pieces are available in sizes 00, 0, 8, 10, and 12, so ladies in the 2-6 size range are better off scoping out the true sample racks.

Among the true samples, we found patterned velvet jeans, embellished silk tops, and slouchy knits, each for $30. All of these items are labelled size 6, but true sizing may actually vary. Leathers and suede pieces were pretty scarce.

For the guys: Again, there are racks of overstock offering a range of sizes, as well as sample sized pieces (size 32 or medium). The offerings spanned wool dress pants for $30, candy colored board shorts for $20, rows and rows of sweaters for $30, and cashmere for $60.

There's a small section devoted to Club Monaco's "Made in America" line, including button front shirts and denim, where the prices went as high as $200 for trench coats.

You'll also find a random selection of accessories, ranging from winter gloves and opaque tights to floppy hats and leather satchels. Everything ranges from $10 to $75, so it's certainly worth a peek. There's also a selection of women's shoes that tops out at $109 for boots and booties.

Scope out our gallery for a full price list and a sampling of what's on offer. Club Monaco's sample sale starts this morning at 11am and continues through Friday, March 15th. Check out the deal feed for location and hours.—Kiran
