The Fairway in Red Hook has remained closed since Hurricane Sandy, due to a ton of damages to the building, which included major flooding to the bottom level. But good news! The market is finally just about ready to reopen.
DNAinfo spotted a tweet from Fairway that reads: "@FairwayMarket Red Hook will re-open March 1st!!! #NoSleepTillBrooklyn #BrooklynStronger #RedHook #Fairway." While that's great for the shop's employees and the residents it feeds, it's also extremely significant for the local stores nearby who have been suffering dramatically from the loss of foot traffic.
