This week, Alexandra Jacobs stopped by Monique Lhuillier uptown. Her rundown of the atmosphere: "A cozy anything-goes feeling prevails toward the dressing rooms, with visitors casually tossing their purses on the floor and browsing while still half-dressed. I was touched by the presence of coffee-table books about Dior, Chanel and Balenciaga, which suggested Ms. Lhuillier longs to join the ranks of Great Designers even as she caves to cheesy brand extensions like white-gardenia reed diffusers ($55)."
