Over the weekend, the plus-size boutique Curvaceous K debuted at 179 Stanton Street. Store owner Kathy Sanchez told The Local that opening her own shop was a natural move: "I've been so many different sizes and I always had to learn how to dress my body. Eventually I became the go-to girl for styling my full-figured friends."

The store carries brands like Igigi, Mynt, Queen Grace and SWAK, and Sanchez explains that the window's "real-sized" mannequins have already garned a fair amount of attention over the past few days. Sizes at Curvaceous K run from 14 through 26, though Sanchez is quick to add that size isn't her focal point: "I don't think it's about being curvaceous or being skinny. It's about being a woman and wanting to look good."
