Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Attention designers and designophiles: a new design showcase is coming to the city this spring. NYCxDesign will span twelve days, from May 10th through the 21st, conveniently sandwiched between the Frieze Art Fair on Randall's Island and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
NYCxDesign events will take place across all five boroughs in venues ranging from city parks to convention centers, with the goal of creating cultural and commercial opportunities. Included in the lineup are exhibitions, installations, trade shows, talks and open studios, most of which will be free to enter. A number of events are already listed, and include programs like "A Life in Collecting With Iris Apfel" ($10, May 15) and America's Next Top Makers (free, May 11). If you're more of a maker than a looker, you can list your event for consideration here.
