When Ralph Lauren first announced it would shutter its Rugby line this year, we had a feeling that the two storefronts the diffusion line occupies downtown would stay in the family. Today, a tipster sent us the above photo of the former Rugby on University Place, revealing that Denim & Supply, Ralph's lower priced younger line, is gearing up to move in.
So how will Denim & Supply fare compared to Rugby? With price points that are significantly more affordable, we're thinking the line will do pretty well in the NYU territory of Greenwich Village. However, the line might not be so hot on Bleecker Street, which is crowded with higher-end competition like MM6 and the Marc Jacobs monopoly. As of now, there's no word yet on whether or not the company is hanging on to the Bleecker spot, or calling it quits.
