New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Sarah Stark is the director of copy at Tory Burch, where she works to evolve the voice of the brand through the website, email, print, marketing and, The Tory Blog. In her role, she creates editorial content, videos, and style tips, while overseeing the copy team. Here, she shows one of her favorite little spots on the Upper East Side where she never walks out of empty handed.

One of my favorite stores is Peipers + Kojen, this tiny jewelry shop on the Upper East Side that's endured the rocky retail landscape for twenty-five years and has a devoted following of customers who keep coming back. They have a great eye for buying, and it shows in their ever-changing mix of beautifully designed items at a range of price points, from designers known, unknown, and about-to-be-known. Something about their assortment necessitates a few loops around to get acquainted with some of the hidden treasures. The three forces behind P+K—Irene, Luda, and Janet — are passionate about what they've created, and always willing to guide you through their latest finds. It's like they do the work of traveling the globe for you. I've accumulated an eclectic collection of stacking bracelets from them through the years, all seeming like special discoveries from far-flung locales, all from just down the block.
