Just this month, the Joy Gryson family of handbags landed its second New York City boutique in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Boreum Hill—now the brand says it's on the hunt for its third local store. The new unit, which they hope to open in the next 24 months, will be in Manhattan. The brand is looking at Nolita, Bleecker Street, and the Upper East and West Sides.
Expansion plans don't stop there: the accessories company, founded in 2000 by a former Marc Jacobs handbag designer director, is aiming for five to six NYC stores in the next two years before conquering the Los Angeles market. China, Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia are also in the works as part of a 20 country push. "We believe in freestanding stores," said business partner Pete Gryson.
