Welcome back to our obsessive coverage of Dover Street Market, where we're taking Rei Kawakubo's multibrand store floor by floor, leaving no kooky detail unmentioned.
The fifth and sixth floors of Dover Street Market are a mix of elegance and avant-garde, with collections from Saint Laurent, Rick Owens, JW Anderson, and Ann Demeulemeester, to name a few. These are the floors to visit with some serious cash, because mostly everything is high-end and expensive. But having a look never hurt anybody's wallet, and believe it or not, DSM staffers totally welcome browsing.
On five, Hedi Slimane's collection for Saint Laurent is installed in a structure the designer created specifically for the market. It's mostly made out of glass and mirrors, and houses menswear, womenswear, bags, and jewelry.
Nearby is the CdG Shirt collection, followed by Rick Owens, CdG Tricot, Sacai, and JW Anderson, whose collection is surrounded by a bright blue building-block installation. Small home and kitchen goods are toward the elevator, so anyone in need of a new desk chair, pencil box, or tray should have a look.
There's a lot to see on six, including a whole bunch of setups with the CdG x Beatles collection scattered about. Undercover's clothing and accessories are hanging below a large neon sign that says, "We Make Noise, Not Clothes." Then there's the Thom Browne shop within a shop, set up head to toe like an office.
Other high-end collections here include Giambattista Valli, Ann Demeulemeester, Peter Pilotto, and Simone Rocha. And way over on the other end of the spectrum are the Spalwarts, Vans, and Common Projects sneakers laid out near CdG incense, candles, and perfume.
