The Joie/Equipment/Current/Elliott trifecta sample sale opens its doors to the public this morning at 260 Fifth Avenue, and we checked out last night's preview to give you an idea of what to expect. The quick overview: it's well-stocked with current pieces and samples.
In the Equipment section, we saw plenty of silk blouses in solid colors, as well as cute, trendy patterns. We noticed right away that all the Equipment tops are in size small, and we couldn't find a medium or large in sight. (All silk blouses are $50.) There's one small rack of soft cashmere sweaters for $75; most were samples and had some pilling. Shorts are $30, pants are $35, sweatshirts are $35, and dresses are $75.
The lowest price for Equipment pieces is the $10 silk ties, and the most expensive are the $100 pajama sets. There are also many sample pieces from the holiday 2013 collection.
The Joie stock takes up the most racks, and prices start at $20 for tank tops and scarves. Shorts and shirts are $30, sweatshirts, pants, vests and jeans are $35. Tops are $45, sweaters are $50, and jackets and coats are $60. Fur vests/coats and leather jackets are $150, although there wasn't much to pick from.
The Joie Mabel bucket bags, which originally retailed for $388, are available in white, black, and beige for $50. In the back of the room, you'll find the Soft Joie merchandise, and the lowest prices, as everything is under $35. We found some great thick sweaters (but look out for damages) for only $25.
In the Current/Elliott section, there are two long rows of jeans organized by sizes, from 23 through
29 31. There are a ton of size 27 jeans, but there are some cute patterns in other sizes as well. All jeans are $40 and $41 for sample jeans. Styles also include waxed denims, python prints, corduroys, and stretchy jeggings.
By the stairs, there are leather pieces, including sexy leather pants, dresses, and even leather camis, all priced at $150. There's also a good quantity of denim jackets and vests, tanks tops, and tees for $20-$30. See our photo gallery for full price lists and notable pieces.
The sale runs from today through Sunday. They will be restocking, and expect markdowns close to end of the sale.—Hsini
Update: Our reporter who stopped by for a spotcheck on Wednesday evening writes that Current/Elliott jeans go up to a size 31.
