Twenty years ago, design company Kikkerland launched on a Hudson River-based houseboat near the Upper West Side. Today, it opened its first retail store at 493 Sixth Avenue, between 12th and 13th Streets. The brand's full range is available, complemented by a selection from independent designers like FormNation, Confetti System, and Tattly.
The shop is a collaboration with Kevin Brynan, owner of Mxyplyzyk, which operated for 22 years in the West Village as a home decor and specialty gift shops before shuttering suddenly earlier this year.
