Australia's Sass & Bide plants a metaphorical flag in U.S. soil with the opening of its first New York boutique tomorrow. Located across the street from the new Kirna Zabete in Soho, the store marks a major milestone for the expanding label: It's not just the first US location, but the first international flagship.

Designers Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton wanted to make a dramatic statement, so they brought on Kelvin Ho of Akin Creative to design the store, and Guild to create a twisted white sculpture that dominates the space. They made a quieter—but just as significant—statement about their intentions to conquer the US this past September, when they returned to the New York Fashion Week runway after a five-year absence.
