The celebratory event surrounding the launch of Jay Z and Barneys' New York Holiday collaboration has been cancelled. The Wednesday night event was to be held not at the Madison Avenue flagship but at an off-site venue, and was to serve as a fundraiser for the Shawn Carter Foundation. WWD notes that Barneys will issue a statement by the end of the day.
No word yet on what this means for the unveiling of the store's windows, or the pop-up gallery installation planned for the third floor. Earlier today, it was revealed that the retailer and the rapper would up the charitable contribution from 25% of sales to 100% of sales.
