Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Welcome to Racked's first annual Travel Week. Over the next five days, roughly half of our content will be devoted to everything you need to know about traveling to and from New York City—whether you're entertaining out-of-towners, killing time at the airport, or planning the ultimate staycation.

1. The Body Shop
Here, you can browse body butters and bath gels in flavors ranging from absinthe to vanilla. If you haven't been inside one of these since middle school, you should also check out the updates: they still carry a men's fragrance called "Activist," but they also stock BB creams. The Newark Airport location of the Provence-inspired brand offers free half-hour mini facials and 15-minute hand massages. You can also try a free fragrance layering session, but go easy on the scents—your future seatmates will thank you. Terminal C, post-security, near the checkpoint to gates C120-139
This location is the best of both worlds: It's a M.A.C., so you can play with their not-kidding-around beauty products, but it's also in the duty free shop. Translation: lipstick party!

4. d_parture spa
This eco-friendly salon offers everything from a 15-minute polish change ($18) to a 60-minute altitude protection facial ($65.) You can even get a wax (face only, folks) or a haircut. One travel site calls their services "the fast-food version of a spa treatment," but if you're looking for a layover makeover, this is probably your best choice.
