Matt Bernson's sample sale opens to the public today at noon, inside a narrow loft at 129 Grand Street in Soho. We were able to take a look at the goods at the friends and family last night, and can say that this sale is totally worth checking out: it's packed with more than 40 styles of shoes, with more arriving today. Samples as well as overstock are available at more than 70% off retail. Most shoes were between $50 and $85, with boots priced a bit higher.
There are a bunch of styles from Matt's current collection, including some bestsellers, like the classic Tundra boots, which are $125 (from $308). Other highlights include Aztec pony flats, which are $70 (from $191), Highline booties for $85 (from $264), and Gauloise flats for $70 (from $198). To prep for a winter storm, you can pick up the snug Alpenglow boots in black or brown for $200 (from $524).
For those who missed out on last falls Matt Bernson x Dannijio collab, those items are heavily discounted at the sale. You can snag the Iggy, Joplin, and Swift for only $50 and Zepellin booties for $75 (originally $325). There's are plenty of flats from past and current collections to pick from, including these models; Wren ($70), Izabel ($70), Carson II ($60), Waverly ($50), Gitanes ($60), Major ($60), Becket ($75) and super cute Beau flats ($65). See photo gallery for more styles.
For men's shoes, there are sadly only about three styles, including black lace-ups and gray handmade perforated leather shoes (Smoker), all for $80. (Those are in the gallery above too.) There are two boxes of accessories at the cashier; one filled with skinny belts for $35 and the other with dangling earrings priced at $10, $15 and $20.
There are chairs and full-length mirrors in the back for try-ons, and the extra friendly staff will help fetch the right size shoes (and even shoot you some compliments). Sizes range from 6 through 10, and there are plenty of 7s.
Bonus: Last night's purchases were bagged up in Whole Foods bags, so if you wish to hide your purchase from your significant other, you can easily pretend they're groceries. See the dealfeed below for hours and more info.—Hsini
