Because some people would rather go shopping than pass out in jammies after a Thanksgiving feast, Macy's will open at 8pm on Thanksgiving Day. This is a first for the retailer, who last year opened four hours later, at midnight. They join the ranks of Lord & Taylor, which opened on Thanksgiving Day for the first time last year, and will do so again this year.
These are the two lone soldiers of Manhattan department stores who have selected to open on the holiday. Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, and Barneys will all remained closed on the sacred, turkey-filled Thursday.
