Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
H&M-owned COS has landed stateside. A selection of clothing and accessories for men and women is available at a pop-up shop inside of Opening Ceremony's Soho store, as well as on the retailer's website. A metal cube stands in the middle of OC's women's store, with merch displayed on all four sides.
The lion's share of clothing available is womenswear. Guys have a single side of the cube to browse, and there is a small selection of leather goods, including a $125 clutch for the ladies and a $55 wallet for the gents. The color palette is overwhelmingly black, with some charcoal, oxblood, and hunter green thrown in the mix. There is nothing available in store that doesn't appear to be stocked online.
As per Opening Ceremony merchandising standard, only two sizes per style are on display. Ask staffers for your size if it isn't hanging and they'll check the backstock and the webstore to see if it is available. An employee this morning said there is not much in terms of additional stock. It seems like the in-store pickings will be wiped out by the end of the weekend.
Sizing is relatively similar to H&M. Many of the silhouettes err on the boxy side, so sizing down may be necessary for a closer fit. Fabrication is lovely, and a big part of COS' appeal: think wool, cashmere, silk, and supple leather.
