New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Lucia Tait is the co-founder and personal stylist of Coup de Coeur Shopping Concierge, where her and her business partner offer personalized shopping focused on wardrobe updates, event outfitting, and bridal. Here, Tait shows us her favorite spot in Chelsea for last minute dinner party gifts.
192 Books is one of those places that makes you feel smart just by being there. The space is simple and quiet and the selection is thoughtful yet accessible. It is located on Tenth Avenue in West Chelsea and features a sophisticated selection of art titles, as well as best selling fiction, non-fiction, classics and rare books. The shop also hosts weekly readings with top authors and stocks signed copies. The High Line has brought some tourist traffic to the store, but it's overall a quaint, neighborhood spot. I shop there not only for myself, but I stop by en route to dinner parties to pick up a tome and have it wrapped in their plain yet elegant brown paper tied with a blue silk ribbon.
