At the end of every year, nostalgia blogger Jeremiah's Vanishing New York posts a list of the city's big independent closures. He reports that in 2012, "We lost 1,255 years of history. That's more than a millennium—just gone." Included are World of Video in Greenwich Village, the Arleen Bowman Boutique on Bleecker, Lascoff Pharmacy on the Upper East Side, and Movie Star News in Chelsea. [JVNY]
