New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Andrew Taylor is the senior director of public relations at Ann Taylor, where he's worked for the past four years. A few of his daily responsibilities include working with editors, press, and celebrities, as well as on charitable initiatives, new store openings, and the brand's recent international launch in Canada. Here, he shows us his favorite upscale pharmacy in Greenwich Village, which is just a stone's throw away from his apartment.

The Whitney Chemists pharmacy is my local go-to spot for wellness. It's located halfway down the block from my apartment. I know when I walk in that I'll be taken care of and they will have those hard-to-find European products that will make my day. Whether it's the Nuxe beauty products, Piz Buin sun protection, Vitabath bath gelee, Berocca vitamins, or the Lempsip cold and flu remedy from England, they can cure what ails me and get me feeling better.
They even have many of my favorite fragrances, like Creed and Monsieur by Givenchy. Plus, they have all the natural herbal products–like the lavender balancing bath treatment and the juniper muscle soothing mineral bath salt—by the German brand Kneipp. I love the German lady who dedicates her time at the pharmacy to curating their selection to sell only the best. It's also a great place to find simple gifts, whether it be Italian soaps, a one-of-a-kind candle, or great bath products. This holiday season, when I was looking for my favorite pine candle, they knew I'd be coming in and held one for me on the side. It's old-world customer service. Rare and priceless in today's overly transactional world. (They also deliver).
