Yesterday, downtown grocery shopping was put on hold when a fire broke out at the Whole Foods on Bowery. According to a handful of tweets collected by Bowery Boogie, shoppers didn't take the alarms seriously until the sprinklers turned on. After that, everyone was "forced to drop their baskets to be escorted out."
The store was only shut down for an hour and no one was injured. As for the culprit? Bowery Boogie reports that the fire was caused near the chicken rotisserie ovens, so expect those to be a little charred.
