New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Alana Kelen has worked at MTV Networks for 12 years, mostly with VH1, but more recently with MTV, TV Land, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, and Spike TV. Her role is to dress on-air talent and special celebrity and musical guests, and as she says, her days are never the same. Sometimes she's finding a dress for a celebrity; sometimes she's finding a white gorilla costume for a prank show on MTV. To top it off, she's also a freelance stylist for InStyle. Here, she spills her favorite West Village spot.
Ginette Jewelry Bar is a super chic spot amidst dive bars and NYC's staple restaurants. I love personalized pieces for the talent I dress, and even more so for gifting. Designer Frederique Dessemond's monogrammed and signet designs range from delicate to bold, all in styles I haven't seen in a super saturated market. You'll be sure to pick up a piece that you'll cherish forever. Also available are charm pieces in gold, white gold, and rose gold, even with a bit of sparkle if preferred. If you're on the look out for a baby gift or one for a man in your life, Ginette also features men's and children's pieces.· Ginette Jewelry Bar [Official Site]
