Footwear brand Schutz is huge in its native Brazil, and after today, New Yorkers will understand why. This morning marked the launch of the label's first U.S. store, a sleek black-and-white box on Madison Avenue. Inside, shoes go for $125 to $300—not bad for a boutique sitting directly across the street from Barneys, and even better once you throw in the opening discount of 50% off for the first 100 shoppers.
Schutz's aesthetic is kicky and colorful; these are definitely party shoes we're talking about. Studs abound, especially on the heels, and nearly every style seems to come in a variety of jewel tones. Understated is not the goal here. If you're looking for a pair of low-heeled yellow pumps with glittery cap toes, you're in luck. But there's a secret practicality underlying all the sparkle and bling. Buy certain styles of sky-high pumps, for example, and they'll throw in a pair of matching flats for free.
