Fashion's Night Out is this Thursday, and the list of participating stores goes on and on. To help you decide your itinerary for the evening of September 6, we've pulled together a series of Top Ten countdowns. We've already looked at the best musical performances and places to eat; now here's a guide to the best beauty events.
Everyone and their mother is giving away beauty makeovers and freebies this year. Look to the uptown department stores for beauty bars, manicures, and other reliable FNO standbys, or get a little bit more experimental at Babeland in Soho, where you'll find vegan makeovers paired with sex tips.
10. B.Bronz at the Spa Merge at the Hilton
Nobody has to know you spent all of Labor Day Weekend indoors re-watching The Hunger Games. Get a beachy glow at the Hilton, where "International Spray Tanner" (that's her real title) Kelly Richardson and Miss North Dakota Jaci Stofferahn will be testing Clearly Bronz, a mess-free spray tan by B.Bronz. 102 West 57th Street, 6pm.
9. Malin + Goetz
To celebrate artist Silvia Prada's new book, The New Modern Hair: A Styling Chart, the skin care brand is hiring hairstylists to give runway-ready hair tips. 177 Seventh Avenue, 6pm.
8. Intermix
Intermix is enlisting Benefit to glam up customers at its Meatpacking location. If you're looking for a colorful kisser and lashes for days, be sure to hit up their lip and lash bar. 812 Washington Street, no time specified.
7. Clinique at Bloomingdale's
Eva Chen might be leaving Teen Vogue, but the social media wunderkind isn't saying goodbye to beauty. Bloomie's offers a chance to meet her along with Clinique's Global Education Manager Kelly Summers, then get a Clinique expert to create a makeup look that matches your best street style get-up. Plus if you buy $28 worth of products, you'll receive a goodie bag filled with the best of fall's cosmetics. 1000 Third Avenue, 6pm.
6. Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa at Sephora
The lovely ladies behind Marchesa will be at Sephora to promote their new scent Marchesa Parfum D'extase. Lust over some of their red-carpet gowns and put on your best celeb face for a picture with a life-size dress cut-out. On your way out, stop for a makeover and free gifts from brands like Bobbi Brown and Kate Somerville. Or hit the makeover area first—the better to look dewy in your photo. 597 Fifth Avenue, 7:30pm.
5. Babeland
Here's a slightly scandalous option: Adult toy emporium Babeland is teaming up with natural/vegan/cruelty-free makeup brand Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics to "give you that sexy glow." Join them for sex tips, complimentary makeup touch-ups, and cocktails. The first 50 guests get gift bags, so you may want to get there on the early side. 43 Mercer Street, 7pm.
4. Bergdorf Goodman
To help get you ready for the night, Bergdorf is bringing some big beauty names to Fifth Avenue. Starting at 3pm, experts like Aerin Lauder, Francis Kurkdjian, and Colette Malouf will make appearances. Also, don't miss the Miss Pop nail bar, Brows by Sonja, and Lashes by Taylor. 754 Fifth Avenue, 3pm..
3. Rebecca Minkoff at Saks Fifth Avenue
Rebecca Minkoff is known for her handbags, but this FNO, she's all about beauty. Embrace your inner ten-year-old girl with her Girls' Night Out activities: a ponytail bar, a smokey eye station, a nail art haven, and even a spot to make your own "arm party." 611 Fifth Avenue, 6:30pm.
2. Suno Manicures at Saks Fifth Avenue
Also at Saks: Designers Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty of Suno are known for their wild prints, but their dresses will run you a pretty penny. On FNO, you can get the same effect for free with custom print manicures from Minx Nails. While you're there, have hairstylist Edward Tricomi trim your bangs and get a temporary tattoo from Rihanna's ink expert. 611 Fifth Avenue, 6pm.
1. Revlon
You need tickets for this one; it's just that good. Gucci Westman, Revlon's Global Artistic Director and wife of Rag & Bone's David Neville, will be on hand for personal consultations at this Industria Studios bash. You'll also be able to get your make-up done by her New York Fashion Week team, your nails done by celebrity manicurist Jin Soon, and your picture taken at the Revlon photo booth. 40 Bethune Street, 6pm.
