The Barneys Warehouse Sale was supposed to end yesterday, but as expected from their practice in recent years, they've chosen to extend it through today. Sample Sally confirms that the discounts finally feel worth it: For the womenswear department, shoes and designer merchandise have been marked down to 60% off, non-designer sportswear is 70% off, and imperfects, lingerie, swim, and accessories are 75% off.
For men, tuxedos, trousers, suits, sportcoats, overcoats, rainwear, and denim are all 40% off, and dress shirts, ties, and silk accessories are 50% off. Casual pants, casual outerwear, sportswear, designer merchandise, red-tag suits and sportscoats, accessories, and pajamas are 60% off, and imperfects are 75% off.
According to this weekend's shoppers, the jury's still out on whether or not you should trade in your lunch break for a trip to Chelsea. One of our commenters wrote that there's "seriously nothing left for women—very picked over dresses, virtually no tops, only very high heels left in most sizes."
And Sample Sally's reporter sounds kind of split: "Overall, it seems that the selection is somewhat replenished for Labor Day shoppers, though I'm not sure that quantity can justify a substitution in quality. If you haven't braved the crowds and are still debating whether or not to go, I'll say this—the pricing is definitely a selling point."
