This has been a rough month for Loris Diran, the high-end Bowery boutique that counts Beyoncé and Sarah Jessica Parker as customers. The company is currently managing plans to shutter the store while coping with the loss of assistant designer and master tailor Robert "Bubble" Pendleton, who recently passed away due to heart failure.
Over the weekend, the team held a memorial for Pendleton at the shop. "He truly became a fixture on the Bowery with his fedora, dapper suits and cigarette in hand, standing outside the boutique regularly," wrote Diran in an email. "He loved it so!"
Diran says he's closing the shop in order to focus his attentions on wholesale. Right now in New York City, the label is stocked by Saks Fifth Avenue, but you'll also be able to find it in the Pamela Gonzales boutique slated to open in Soho this fall. "It's a sad coincidence that these two milestones in my life came at the same exact time," Diran writes, "but the love my team shared together lives on in our collections."
