If you've ever encountered a particularly fit New York City police officer, then its possible you have Joseph Barthelemy to thank, since one of his training gigs is a fitness instructor for the NYPD. He's also a trainer for Plus One Health Management at Goldman Sachs, and he's the founder/strength conditioning coach for New Era Sports Performance.

Somehow, he still finds the time for insane personal workouts: "I like to do crazy stuff like running 40 flights of stairs while wearing a 50lbs weight vest, or create crazy circuits that would make any grown man cry—some would say those workouts are illegal."

Though that would probably bring tears to anyone's eyes, Joseph explains that pushing through the pain is as much a mental task as it is physical. "I think my college basketball coach instilled that in me from our grueling practices, and all I could remember is him yelling, 'Mind over matter! Mind over matter!'" Try telling yourself that the next time you run up 40 flights of stairs, or, use his other favorite mantra: "Go Hard or Go Home."
