Fashion's Night Out takes place in just one week, and the list of participating stores goes on and on. To help you decide your itinerary for the evening of September 6, we've pulled together a series of Top Ten countdowns. First up: The Top Ten Musical Performances.
The biggest performance of Fashion's Night Out isn't actually happening on Fashion's Night Out. At H&M locations around Manhattan, you'll be able to enter to win access to a private performance by Lana del Rey, but according to the brand's PR, the show won't take place until a later date. In the meantime, you can find live music and dance parties all over the city, from a Russian electro-pop group playing on Fifth Avenue to a pair of It Girl DJs facing off in the Meatpacking District.
By the way, so far FNO video stars Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift haven't announced any actual shows, but if you hear rumors to the contrary, feel free to leave them in the comments.
10. Chairlift at Prada Soho
Even if you think you don't know Brooklyn-based indie band Chairlift, you probably remember their Apple ad. The poppy, '80s-inflected band will be playing live at the store, and a percentage of all sales from the evening will benefit the New Yorkers For Children foundation. 575 Broadway, 6pm—10pm.
9. Kissette at M Missoni Soho
The sisters behind Kissette have DJ'd parties for everyone from Cheap Monday to Diesel. While they spin, the shop will be selling a thematically appropriate accessory: limited-edition M Missoni headphones in a variety of colors. 426 West Broadway, 6pm—10pm.
8. Rev Run + DJ Ruckus at Piperlime
Piperlime celebrates FNO with the launch of its first-ever brick-and-mortar boutique in Soho. Not only will you get to meet Rachel Zoe, but music will be supplied by Run DMC's Rev Run and DJ Ruckus. 121 Wooster Street, 6pm—11pm.
7. Tesla Boy at Salvatore Ferragamo
The luxury brand's fall collection is inspired by Russia, and their FNO event has a distinctly Slavic flair. The Fifth Avenue store will host Russian street style stars Miroslava Duma, Elena Perminova, and Anya Ziourova, along with a performance by the Russian electro-pop trio Tesla Boy. 655 Fifth Avenue, 6pm—9pm.
6. DJ set by Alexa Chung, Moschino
Back in January, Alexa Chung told Jimmy Fallon that when she has to DJ, she just makes a mix CD ahead of time and then spends the event pretending to look busy. Somehow, this admission only made seem even more down-to-earth. Watch her fake it all evening at Moschino's Meatpacking District store. 401 W. 14th Street, 7pm—11pm.
5. DJ Solange Knowles, DVF
It's the battle of the It Girl DJs! While Alexa Chung is doing her thing at Moschino, Beyoncé's hip little sister will be spinning across the street. Cocktail, dessert, and makeup touch-ups from M.A.C. artists are all included. 874 Washington Street, 6pm—11pm.
4. We Were Promised Jetpacks and The Lonely Forest at Rockefeller
This is the first U.S. show for anthemic Scottish act We Were Promised Jetpacks since their stellar performance at Coachella. They'll be playing alongside Washington's The Lonely Forest, which is best known for guitar-driven indie rock and a recent Bonnaroo performance. One thing this event has over either of those festivals: It's 100% free. Rockefeller Center, 7:30pm for The Lonely Forest, 9pm for We Were Promised Jetpacks.
3. Shontelle Layne at Harney & Sons
Shontelle Layne, better known as just Shontelle, is a Grammy-nominated R&B/hip-hop artist from Barbados, and if that makes her sound like a certain musical superstar, well, she did co-write "Man Down." She's launching her own line of Cat shoes at Soho tea shop Harney & Sons. Buy a pair, and she'll autograph them for you—or just sign a photo or CD. 433 Broome Street, 6pm—9pm.
2. Cyndi Lauper at Manolo Blahnik
Six words, people: Girls just want to have fun. Lauper will be performing at 8:30pm in celebration of her new musical Kinky Boots, so don't be late to this can't-miss event. 31 West 54th Street, 8:30pm.
1. Azealia Banks and DJ Cosmo at M.A.C. Soho
Banks has teamed up with the beauticians at M.A.C. on a limited-edition lipstick debuting on FNO. Stop by to grab one for yourself, then stick around for her special performance. You'll probably want to get there early; it's going to be crowded, and the people-watching is going to be incredible. 506 Broadway; Banks is set to perform around 7:45pm.
