This is Store Sidekicks, an occasional end-of-the-week feature in which we profile the fuzzy wuzzy creatures who inhabit shops around the city. If you'd like to nominate your favorite store animal, drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you've ever been inside Hamlet's Vintage on Bleecker Street, then you've most likely met Travis the shop dog. He's an 11-year-old collie, husky, and golden retriever mix who loves to pose for pictures with the customers and their vintage finds. He also, as it seems, likes to cuddle up with the merchandise.
Store owner Hamlet Tallaj says that Travis has been named Employee of the Year for the past five years, which is great news for him but maybe a little hard to swallow for the store's human employees. Maybe not, though—after all, could you really be mad at that smile?
