Will Lanier didn't have any plans to become a trainer when he moved to New York in late 2010. "I came here to do PR and was doing CrossFit just so my ass looked good in my slacks," he says. But after a coach approached him to teach a few classes, he realized that he wanted to make CrossFit his full-time job. Here's how he rationalized that decision: "Pay cut? Sure. Wearing Lululemon to work every single day? Priceless."
Will says his 5:45am class is his favorite: "Anyone dumb enough to CrossFit before 6am has to clearly have mental issues, which makes for a damn good time once caffeinated." As an instructor, he subscribes to a devastatingly simple philosophy: When it doubt, add more weight. Off the clock, he says he's an expert at April Fool's pranks and a surprisingly good rapper. "I kick ass at rapping Eminem and L'il Wayne. Trust me on this one."
