Head to the Seize sur Vingt Sale for Moderately Priced Workwear

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Seize sur Vingt online sample sale ends tonight, but if you prefer seeing and feeling what your buying, the brick-and-mortar experience begins tomorrow morning at 11am in the rear corner of their Greene Street store. So you know what to expect, we wrangled a sneak preview earlier today.

The stars of the show are the brand's exquisitely fitting and beautifully made woven shirts. Fortunately, there are what seems like thousands—and they're clearly organized by size, both by neck size and sleeve length. Take your pick, as you'll find versions for work and play: Broadcloth oxfords, twilled flannels, linen bengals, and a symphony of stripes and checks ranging from your everyday to your out-sized and orange. And of course, there are a million in go-to-work white. Sizes range from 14.5 to 17.5, and prices start at a friendly $60 (from $180 and up).

Also notable is the nice array of suits, suit separates, blazers, and trousers. By and large, the stock is on the staid side, ranging from tonal glen plaid wools to summery solid twills and classic tropical wools in gray and blue. Aside from the basics, look for a range in neutral corduroys and dark denim, as well as a few fun seersuckers, including a pair of pants in an unusual five-color woven. There's also a fantastic cotton twill sports jacket in electric orange—you'll spot it from the front door.

Pants start as low as $60 (from $190 and up), suits are $300 to $600 (from up to $3,500) and blazers range from $200 (for a handful of minimally damaged floor samples) to $450 (for the best and dressiest).

Your basic cotton blazer will set you back $300 (from up to $2,500), and a few great pairs of shoes are available for $150, which include classic lace-ups, oxfords, and brogues, as well as a Chelsea boot. They're rather limited though, and only available in sample sizes.

Nearby, check the slim stacks of sweaters and sweater vests. Nothing splashy—just crew necks and v-necks in neutral heathers, ranging from navy to chestnut. Lambswool starts around $60 with cashmere topping out around $150 (from $180+). Other knits include polos in jersey, piqué or sweater knit cotton, priced at $40 (from $95 and over).

There's also a handful of charming accessories, like pin-dotted ties for $20 and logo-monogrammed pocket squares with contrast piping for $10.One rolling rack of womenswear awaits watch-checking wives and girlfriends, but basically, it consists of girl-shaped menswear. The bulk of it is blouses in a range of sizes, which start at $70. Along the edges, look for suit separates and a few conservative skirts.

The sale starts at 11am tomorrow morning and runs through Sunday. There's plenty of replenishment waiting in the wings, and we're told anything left unsold from the online sale will also filter into the racks. Since the sale takes place in the store, you'll be delighted to hear that fitting rooms are available and you'll have your choice of payment options. One final note: A few damaged items are mixed in, and are priced accordingly, but be aware.
