Massimo Dutti announced plans to take over Zara's spot at 689 Fifth Avenue a little over a year ago, but up until today there was only a vague "fall 2012" opening date to go by. Now, we have something a little more concrete: WWD reports that the store is expected to debut sometime in mid-October.
The Madison Avenue location will mark Massimo Dutti's first store in the states. If you're unfamiliar with the line, the article describes the brand as the "younger, less developed sibling of Zara," being that they're both owned by Inditex. A spokesperson for the company differentiates the two brands as trendy (Zara) versus classic (Massimo), meaning that the Massimo Dutti shopper is looking to add staple pieces to their wardrobe, while the Zara customer is looking for a neon blazer, a studded purse, or something else along those lines. In other news, the new store is currently hiring.
