Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

As our search for New York City's hottest trainer speeds up, we're moving to two profiles a day. Once you've gotten to know everyone, we'll host a March Madness-style showdown in which you get to vote for your favorite. Let the games begin!

Paul Arthur has been a personal trainer for the past ten years, but his resume goes far beyond that. He's played professional basketball in the U.S. and Mexico and he's also a competitive body builder. He trains at the private Hype Gym on East 27th Street, where his favorite thing to teach is core training.

In addition to stretching beforehand, he says that one of the most important things to do during a workout is to "pay close attention to your form." While that might be tricky for the rest of us, it comes second nature to Paul. Since he's also a Wilhelmina fitness model, total body awareness is just a part of the job.
